Falling Short Of Your Expectations

Even when the world sees you as successful...

A Lost Boy In Neverland

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

If you haven’t heard by now, I have released a song featuring KJ-52 called Lost Boy on all streaming platforms. It’s performing really well for having started as a no name artist and is looking like it will cross 10K streams on spotify around the time this article goes out. I have been on the radio, had articles written about it, and been featured on many playlists.

Yet, even with the success - it still fell short of what I had pictured which was a large round number of 100,000 streams in the first month. Was I a dreaming about the possibilities? Sure. But I imagine this is what it is like when we seek God and every time fall short of the Glory of Him.

We’ve all started bible reading plans that didn’t pan out. We’ve joined small groups, teams, and churches for our own gain at times even if we didn’t know it. Maybe that’s just me.

But I consistently have to come back to the verse after 3:23

24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

This honestly is what my song is about at its core. Someone mentioned I basically wrote a rock version of amazing grace and I somewhat agree with them. See the lyrical difference between the choruses. Very different, but the point is the same.

I once was lost but now I’m found

I was a lost boy, Needed someone to save me from going crazy.

We can all live in the “never gonna grow up” phase on the island of Neverland. Or we can continuously admit that we need a savior and that is a part of maturing in our faith.

Where God Takes You

Recently, God has been taking me to some really exciting places. I spoke to college students at both of my alma maters in Texas and Tennessee regarding using ai in their job searches. I have been traveling a ton (within the last six months I have made it to Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Nashville, Houston, Abilene, San Antonio and more…) And while most may see this as “Wow, Tim’s doing a lot right now” I see it as - these are all seeds I planted 9-12 months ago where I started thinking and praying about where God would take me.

I think God will put you exactly where you need to be when you are ready. However, on the career and life side - I encourage you begin pursuing him and thinking about 9-12 months out. Plant the seeds in good soil with the right heart posture, water the fields with consistent prayer, and watch where God takes you.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Impacting the Workplace for Christ (From C.S. Lewis Institute - PDF / Article)
For many years I’ve wrestled with how to be salt and light, never realizing that my ministry could be at work. God has chosen that I serve Him at my job, and as a result I have seen significant changes in how I view and perform my duties.”
