Jesus Put In The Work
Jesus punched the clock, had long days, succeeded and had moments of "improvement" as he grew up. He was human like you and me - because of that our example for a Christ-Centered Career comes from christ himself.
The Stages Of Jesus’ Career
Throughout the bible, we get many glimpses into the man he was and became over time. As a child, he was the oldest of at least 7 children (Matt 13:55), seen as exceptionally smart and applied(Luke 2:46-47), raised in a religious home (Luke 2:41), with a father who knew the meaning of a Good day’s work through his career as a carpenter.
The next part of this picture is less clear as we run into “the lost years” from ages 12-29 where we do not have much info at all as to what Jesus was doing during this time. If I had to garner a guess, I’d expect he was doing much of the same. Graduating his apprenticeship from his fathers trade, visiting the temple, honoring religious activities, maybe a little travel here and there.
Once Jesus reaches the age of 30, he makes a big career move and shifts his focus towards traveling ministry. In which, it seems like he crushes for the next 3 and a half years until he performs his last selfless act and leaves behind the greatest inheritance the world could ever receive (John 3:16).

An Example Of Jesus’ life In “Career” Format
When you start to paint the picture and find the trends, you can see similarities and parallels to the way we currently work in our careers now. In our childhood, we often look to our parents career paths as possible options for work in the future. We enter a field and really work to achieve excellence in knowledge and skill in our specific profession. At some point, we reach of level of understanding which allows us to enter into the mature part of our career when wisdom begins to become the driving factor rather than vim and vigor we have for advancement.
Here are some other ways the life of Jesus can look similar to the career you have now.
Jesus moved a lot during his life.
He had passions that didn’t initially line up with his career field.
He managed and mentored others.
He dealt with coworkers.
He made a career change.
He faced celebrity moments.
He experienced rejection and ridicule.
He made tough decisions that did not align with authority figures of the day.
He honored those he came into contact with no matter their past.
